colorFabb LW-BVOH is a water-soluble support filament that foams during printing, allowing you to create the same support volume with less filament. Compatible with a wide range of materials, it is designed for dual-extrusion printers and models with overhangs, cavities and fine details. After printing, the supports dissolve in water, saving you the effort of breaking or cutting them away.

How does it work?

A foaming agent in the filament activates inside the hot nozzle, causing the material to expand and become lighter. This allows you to print the same support volume using less filament by weight. According to the manufacturer, support material consumption can be reduced by up to 50% when the temperature and extrusion rate are carefully calibrated. Actual savings depend on your printer, settings and support design.

Remove supports with water

After printing, simply place the part in water and let the supports dissolve. This is particularly useful for delicate structures or areas that are difficult to reach with pliers or a knife. The foamed structure contains less material, helping it dissolve quickly. Dissolving time depends on support thickness, geometry, water temperature and water movement.

Compatible with a wide range of materials

LW-BVOH is designed for use with PLA, TPU, PET, PETG, PEBA, ASA and selected nylon (PA) formulations. As adhesion varies between material combinations, use a calibrated support profile and test adhesion to your model material before printing.

Please note: BVOH absorbs moisture. Keep the filament dry during storage and printing, and follow colorFabb's recommended printing settings.
