presto Polyester Resin + Hardener, 250 g

presto Polyester Resin + Hardener is a flexible, highly reactive resin that can be used with glass fibre fabric or glass fibre mat to bridge larger holes, rust-through areas and damaged sections. It can be applied to almost any surface, including vehicle repairs, model making, mould construction and industrial applications.

The material is an unsaturated, elastified polyester resin that adheres securely to substrates such as metal, wood and concrete. When used with glass fibre fabric, it forms a dimensionally stable, robust layer that permanently bridges even larger areas of damage.

Clear mixing ratio

The hardener should be added at a ratio of around 2% to 4%, with approximately 2.5% being ideal. At 20 °C, the working time, or pot life, is around 10 minutes. The resin can be applied from a temperature of 12 °C.

► Application: Apply the resin to the pre-treated, rust-free, clean and grease-free surface before placing the cut glass fibre fabric on top and pressing it down evenly with a brush. Then saturate it again with resin to prevent air pockets from forming. Glass fibre fleece is used as the final layer, creating a suitable surface for subsequent build-up layers. Several layers can also be applied on top of each other.

After around 40 minutes, the repaired area can be drilled, sanded, sawn, filed and painted. If the repaired area is to be painted afterwards, an intermediate layer of presto Filling Compound or presto Fine Putty is recommended, as the slightly tacky resin surface acts as a bonding layer and helps ensure good adhesion.
