colorFabb varioShore PEBA 45D/90A Natural, 1,75 mm / 600 g

colorFabb varioShore PEBA 45D/90A is a foaming filament based on polyether block amide, offering adjustable softness, low weight and pronounced rebound. Within the varioShore PEBA range, the 45D/90A version is the firmer alternative to 40D/85A, making it suitable for applications that require noticeably stronger spring-back rather than a soft, yielding feel.

Foaming for lower weight and a different feel

As with the varioShore TPU range, the print temperature controls how much the material foams during printing. Higher temperatures produce more foaming and therefore lighter parts, while lower temperatures result in denser, firmer prints. This allows the 45D/90A material to be fine-tuned further between slightly lighter and slightly denser results.

Springiness rather than just flexibility

Unlike conventional TPU, which primarily absorbs energy when compressed, PEBA releases it quickly again. Printed parts rapidly return to their original shape after repeated compression or bending, a behaviour that is particularly useful for dynamic, springy components rather than purely cushioning applications.

Firmer for higher-load applications

At 45D/90A, the Shore hardness is noticeably higher than that of the softer 40D/85A version. This makes the material suitable for parts that require stronger rebound, greater dimensional stability under load or a more supportive structure, for example soles with deliberately stiffer zones or more demanding sports applications.

Stable across a wide temperature range

Even in cooler environments, where many flexible materials become noticeably stiffer, PEBA 45D/90A remains comparatively flexible. Combined with good fatigue and chemical resistance, this makes the material suitable for outdoor and engineering applications involving repeated mechanical stress.

Can be combined with varioShore TPU

For parts that require both cushioning and springy zones, PEBA 45D/90A can be combined with varioShore TPU 85A or 95A. A mechanical interlock between the print paths is recommended so the two materials engage physically with one another rather than relying solely on material-to-material adhesion.

Note: Like many technical flexible filaments, PEBA absorbs moisture from the air, which can affect surface finish and print quality. The filament should therefore be kept dry before and during printing.
