3DMakerpro Turtle

The 3DMakerpro Turtle is a modular 3D scanner system that lets you choose between the S, M and L scanning modules, as well as the Turtle Control Pad, so you can put together the exact setup that suits your scanning tasks. All modules work on the same basic principle, but differ in object size, capture area and accuracy, while the Control Pad serves as an optional mobile processing unit that replaces the laptop.

One system, three size classes

Instead of a scanner with a fixed sensor head, the Turtle uses interchangeable modules that attach to the same base unit. Depending on the sizes of the objects you scan most often, you can choose the right module or combine several modules for different applications.

► Module S: for small, detailed objects

Module S covers an object range of around 10 to 300 mm and achieves an accuracy of up to 0.01 mm with a resolution of 0.05 mm. It is suitable for miniatures, jewellery or intricate components where the finest details need to be captured.

► Module M: the all-rounder for everyday scanning tasks

With a capture range of around 15 to 1,500 mm, Module M is aimed at users who mainly scan medium-sized objects, such as workpieces, prototypes or figures. Accuracy is up to 0.03 mm, with a resolution of 0.07 mm.

► Module L: for large objects and assemblies

Module L is designed for object sizes of around 100 to 2,000 mm and captures an area of 600 x 450 mm per frame. For vehicle parts, bodywork sections or larger pieces of furniture, this module is the right choice, with an accuracy of up to 0.05 mm and a resolution of 0.10 mm.

Shared technology in every module

Whichever size you choose, each module uses a 2.3-megapixel sensor, a blue light source for structured light projection and also captures 24-bit colour textures. Connection is via USB-C, while exports are available in STL, PLY, ASC or OBJ format.

Optional: Turtle Control Pad for mobile scanning without a laptop

Those who want to work independently of a computer can add the Turtle Control Pad. It handles capture, processing and export directly on the device and features a 6.4-inch 2K AMOLED touchscreen, 16 GB RAM and 256 GB internal storage. In standalone operation with the Control Pad, scanning runs at up to 10 frames per second.

Three setups for every scanning situation

It is not only the module that determines how you scan, but also the setup. All three modules can be used in three different configurations, depending on what the situation requires:

• Handheld: Wireless and freely movable, ideal when you need to move flexibly around an object.
• Modular: For angles and object areas that are difficult to reach in a conventional setup, such as undercuts or narrow gaps.
• Wired: Fixed connection to a computer for stationary use with maximum performance, for example in a studio or at a dedicated workstation.

As each of the three setups can be combined with every module, the Turtle adapts to the scanning task at hand instead of limiting you to a single workflow.

Higher speed when used with a PC

If a module is connected directly to a compatible Windows or Mac computer, the capture speed increases to up to 30 frames per second. For fast scans in the studio or at a workstation, working without the Control Pad can therefore be worthwhile, while the Control Pad is invaluable when scanning on the go or without a laptop.

Magnetic module changes without tools

The modules are changed using a magnetic connector, with no screws or tools required. The Control Pad works with all three modules, allowing the configuration to be adapted flexibly from one project to the next.

Reliable tracking, even on challenging surfaces

Very smooth, glossy or transparent surfaces naturally provide fewer reference points for the tracking system. For these cases, 3DMakerpro recommends using scanning spray or markers as accessories to create additional visible reference points.
